Soft Matter Scientist

Institut Max Von Laue Paul Langevin

The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. We operate the brightest neutron source in the world and are situated on an international science hub: the European Photon & Neutron (EPN) Science Campus, in Grenoble, France. Funded primarily by France, Germany and the United Kingdom, we have scientific collaboration agreements with 12 other countries.

Together with the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), we have set-up a Partnership for Soft Condensed Matter (PSCM) that provides a platform for promoting the complementary aspects of neutron and synchrotron techniques in the soft matter field. In order to coordinate the activities of the PSCM on the ILL side, our Science Division is looking for a: Soft Matter Scientist (m/f)

  • Participate actively in the reach out activities of the PSCM in order to attract external partners;
  • Carry out an ambitious personal research programme in Soft Matter involving the use of neutrons and synchrotron radiation.
  • Personal skills expected
  • You have a solid training in physical chemistry including the running of standard laboratory equipment;
  • You are familiar with neutron and synchrotron radiation;
  • You have a keen interest in setting up scientific collaborations;
  • You are capable of animating scientific work in a service-oriented environment;
  • You enjoy training young scientists and supervising students.
Qualifications and experience You hold a PhD in physics or physical chemistry. Postdoctoral experience in cutting-edge soft matter research is considered an advantage.
